Parents as Career Coaches

Auburn Drive High School and Cole Harbour High School have partnered to offer the “Parents as Career Coaches” program to all grade 10, 11 & 12 parents.  Parents as Career Coaches is a free program designed to equip parents with information and tools to support their children in making informed and successful education and career choices.  The program is being offered November 2 & 3 beginning at 6:30 at Cole Harbour High School.  Interested parents can register by visiting the Auburn Drive High School website and clicking here or go to the “Parents as Career Coaches” link in the Links menu above.

TD Scholarship
The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership is open to students in their final year of high school; have a minimum overall grade average of 75% in their most recently completed school year and have demonstrated community leadership. Additional details can be found in Student Services and on-line. Applications must be received by November 18, 2016.
Schulich Leader Scholarship
The Schulich Leader Scholarship is open to students interested in post-secondary studies in the areas of: Science, Technology, Engineering or Math and plan to pursue their studies at one of the select 20 universities in Canada. Students may apply directly or be nominated by your school. If you would like to be considered as Auburns Schulich Nominee sign the sheet posted in student services before December 1. Nominees must possess at least two of three criteria: Academic Excellence, Leadership or Financial need. Deadline for application is February 22.
Spirit Week
Monday - orange and black day with pumpkin carving at lunch, also pay 50 cents to guess the amount of candy in a jar to win it! Tuesday - flannel day with donut dangle at lunch, Wednesday - twin day, mummy wrap your twin in toilet paper at lunch! Thursday - pj day, bobbing for body parts at lunch, candy draw!
Engineering event for girls
Are you a grade 10 girl who is interested in a career in engineering? If so, then you should sign up for the Engineers NS Workshop on November 8th. You will enjoy a day of hands-on activities with Dalhousie University’s Engineering Faculty and Engineers Nova Scotia; you will meet engineering students, professors and professionals working in industry to learn about the vast opportunities available to you as an engineer. This event is for girls and there is space for our school to bring up to 4 female students. If you are interested, please see the sign up in Student Services to sign up.
Boys' Hockey
Boys' Hockey...we are playing our heated rivals, CHH tonight at 5pm at CHP, Scotia 1. Come out and support our Eagles.
Yearbooks for sale at lunch in the pit. $60 each. Cash please. Also there is a survey to complete for the fun page in the yearbook.

A reminder to all students to get your attendance notes in by Monday so Ms. Johns can process Octobers exemption list.
SMU bus tour
Monday,November 7, Saint Mary’s University is offering students from Auburn Drive High School the opportunity to take a bus tour over to their campus in order to hear about their programs, visit their campus and offer on-the-spot admissions. If you are interested in this trip, please see Ms. McCurdy for the permission slip and return it to Student Services. There is a limited number of seats on the bus, and it will be done on a first come with their permission slip signed basis.
We Scare Hunger
A very exciting development in the WE Scare Hunger program...the cupcake party contest has been extended until Tuesday of NEXT week! B block classes are competing for the most food bank items in their food bank boxes. Keep those donations flowing!!
Girls' Junior Varsity Basketball
Any girls interested in playing Junior Varsity Basketball please see Mrs. Branton in room 307. The first try out will be Tuesday, Nov 1 from 4-6pm.
